BAY TAL MAL || The house of wealth, a taste of royalty



I have been to other restaurants offering Tausug cuisine but what got me to visit this restaurant is the fact that it is the 1st Muslim restaurant in the region accrediited by DOT and is Halal Certified by HICCIP. So what's your idea of Halal?

Before talking to the owner my idea of Halal is simply not having pork on the Menu but as how Mr. Yasin(owner) explained it's the entire process that makes a restaurant Halal certified, from the killing of the animal, till preparation and serving.

A day after the restaurants 3rd year anniversary we decided to pay them a visit and have a taste of what Bay Tal Mal , the house of wealth has in store for us.



The place makes you feel like royalty. From the interiors, the color, the vibe , music and even how they serve their dishes and water.

Personally, Tausug/ Moro cuisine is not something prepared to us during our younger years. Even if I was born and raised in Zamboanga, these types of food is something we only taste when we are invited during gatherings or festivities by our Muslim brothers and sisters.

Their menu is affordable yet authentic.





It was difficult to choose what to order. Luckily, Bay Tal Mal offers Latal(a platter of different Tausug dishes) for as low as 399pesos(good for 2-3 individuals) and 599pesos(good for 5-6 individuals) which was even on 50% off during their anniversary. You also get a mug as a souveneir.


It was nice to get a feel of how the TAUSUG festivities are done. Thanks for letting the Zamboangueños get a feel of the rich culture and taste of the Moro cuisine.

I did not know that Tilapia can be cooked in so many ways till I went to Laurel Batangas. Laurel, officially the Municipality of Laurel, is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Batangas, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 39,444 people. Laurel had been part of Talisay, its current neighbor town. The town used to be known as Bayuyungan. I was invited to witness their very popular Tilapia Festival by having a lot of activities.
