OSAKA PANCAKE || A taste of Japan

Japan has been one of the destinations that I wish to visit not only because of their rich culture but also because of their rich tasting food.

Last October 1st, we got to have a taste of Japan thru OSAKA PANCAKE. They have 2 branches serving authentic Japanese food as the ingredients and condiments came straight from Japan. The owner is from OSAKA thus the name of the resto. What inspired the owner to put up the resto was fueled by their experience eating Takoyaki(a Japanese food that is growing popular in the Philippines) in one of the stalls at a popular mall. The taste may be acceptable to us Filipinos but it was different for Japanese who grew up eating these food. The owner aims to be able to bring authentic Japanese food close to home and easy on the pocket.

PasigueƱos are indeed lucky to have these two branches in these areas:

SAN JOAQUIN - 240D M. Concepcion Ave., San Joaquin, Pasig

They opened the Kapasigan branch 1st last June 8, 2015 and followed by the San Joaquin branch which opened August 8, 2017.

KAPASIGAN - 111 A. Mabini St., Kapasigan, Pasig

We went to their San Joaquin branch and the location shouts Japan with it's color, decorations and vibe.

How to get there:
Option 1 : Grab / Uber
Option 2 : From Guadalupe, you can ride a jeep going to Pateros then from there you need to take another ride going to San Joaquin
Option 3 : From Market Market ride a jeepney bound to San Joaquin

THE MENU

Their menu prices mostly ends with the number 8 for goodluck. You are lucky indeed if you have discovered this place as for only 28pesos you get to taste authentic TAKOYAKI, not just one or two but three pieces. 68 pesos for their OKONOMIYAKI or the japanese pancake, and they even have MANGO YUKI (somehow like the bingsu of the koreans) also for only 68pesos.

We got to meet the owner and the marketing in-charge of the place, had a little chitchat and talked about how the business started and their plans for the future. The San Joaquin branch is fully airconditioned and perfect for when you would like to meet up with friends or have an alone time and eat Japanese food.

PINAYAVENTURES FAVORITE/S:

I would highly suggest for you to try their Takoyaki(28pesos for 3 pcs) and partner it with Mango Yuki(68pesos). For a total of 96 pesos you'll be able to have a taste of Japan.

I brought my daughter with me and surprisingly she loved the OKONOMIYAKI and Ramen. It is a good way for mom's to get their kids to enjoy vegestables as the appearance of the OKONOMIYAKI hides the cabbages within the pancake.

I was accompanied by Travel ni bes/I love Philippines as well who also enjoyed the Japanese cuisine. It was rich in flavor and delicious.

At first if you will look at the food it may seem to not get you full or you may think of it as not suitable for regular meals but believe me when I say that these type of food will get you full even if you consume just portions of each just like we did. If you will be visiting in groups I would suggest you to order everything in the menu and just share so that you get to taste everything.

This is a great alternative from the normal burger, pasta and fries type of restaurant. It introduced us to a different taste that Filipinos will indeed also love once they've tried it. We tend to always stick to what we are used to eat growing up but now we should explore and try other cuisines that will definitely satisfy our tastebuds. Thank you OSAKA PANCAKE for bringing a taste of Japan in the Philippines.

  1. Sabi ko na nga ba, the place looks familiar. Sa harap lang sya ng paborito kong cake shop sa Pasig (Blu Minnette). May branch pala sa Pasig. Never tried it though as I'm not a fan of Japanese but might as well try since meron din naman sa San Joaquin.
