Can we enjoy both worlds in one day?
Read on to find out.

Sunday, one whole day left till we leave Zamboanga and go back to the hussle and bussle of Manila. 2 destinations on our list that we have to go to with so little time plus add the fact that these 2 destinations are almost 50 kms. away from each other.

Saturday, March 11, 2016 after our food hunt downtown, visiting places, decorating for my Aunt's 73rd birthday, attending the family reunion, we managed to visit Paseo del Mar to secure a reservation for our Pink Sand, Sta. Cruz Island adventure. Reservations are already available since January, 2017 and is much better as you are the one's who will be attended to first.

Tourism Office, Paseo del Mar

Only 400 individuals are allowed per day to visit the famous island. We went home from Laftrip Comedy bar located infront of Marcian's Hotel at 1am, we had a little too much fun without thinking that we will need to be at Paseo del Mar as early as 7am. We were up at 3am, left at 4am as our barangay is 13 kms away from the City. We arrived downtown at 5am and decided to walk to Paseo del Mar. Arrived at Paseo del Mar at 6am and got some bread from DMaster's Bakery to take with us to the island.

I got supercheese, pan de coco and pan monggo

We did not bring any other food as we will only stay in the island till 9 or 10am as our relatives will be waiting for us at 10am to go to Limpapa Bridge.

We left Paseo del Mar at 7am as we had a reservation and we were number 3 on the list. Originally there were only 3 of us but we decided to invite friends and post in fb as there may be interested individuals to join us. And yes! From a small group of 3 we grew to 11.

photo does not show 11 as the others were camera shy

The boat will cost you 1000 pesos for 10 individuals below and 100 per additional person. The more the merrier as you get to split the bill and get to know new folks.

We do not know each other, but thats the beauty of it... we get to meet new friends!

There were 11 of us in our team and here's our expenses to give you an idea if ever you would like to also try DIYing your STA.CRUZ ISLAND TRIP. We paid 200 pesos per person(ALL IN),

BOAT(roundtrip) - 1000 pesos for 10 individuals and additional 100 pesos per excess of 10 people

200 pesos for Sandbar tour

COTTAGE - rental ranges from 100, 200 to 500 for bigger groups.

100 pesos
200 pesos
Entrance fee: during our visit the entrance fee was 20 pesos per person but there was a time that it went up to 50 to 100 pesos.

Terminal fee: 5 pesos per person

We each paid 200 and whatever was left we gave as tip.

There is also a dampa style(paluto) available in the island that gives the locals additional income. You basically buy the fish and other seafood that they have and yhey will do the cooking. You can also bring your own rice and have them cook it for you. (atleast you get yo help feed a family for a day)

We quickly ate at 8am and waited for a boat to take us to the sandbar, if we stayed till the afternoon(btw you can only stay till 2pm as overnight is not allowed in the island) , Sir Jong the environmentalist/landscaper/tourguide/photographer said that we could have also availed of the lagoon tour.

Sandbar, Sta. Cruz Island
After the sandbar tour our relatives were already calling us , as we are scheduled to go to Limpapa Bridge. So we went back to the Great Sta. Cruz island to take more pictures, swim for some and get our stuff ready to go back to Paseo del Mar. It was a short but definitely enjoyable experience.

Our travel began as we needed to go back to our house to join our relatives to Limpapa Bridge. We arrived at our place around 11am and off we went to Limpapa Bridge! We invited our new found friends yo go with us but only 2 of them were available. So the team of 11 was down to 5.

Limpapa bridge
Travel from downtown to Limpapa will take you 1 to 1.5 hour/s depending on the driver's skills(there is no traffic in the west coast of Zamboanga City).

We even passed by Parola in Labuan

Here are some of our pictures at Limpapa Bridge.

Here's our pictures while trying out "salbabida rafting". It will bring out the child in you.

At 4pm we bid goodbye and it was the most productive day of our trip.

I am happy to have met new friends in this trip. From the boatman, to Sir Jong, to the group of friends who joined us in Sta.Cruz island, Thank you! I can still remember Ma'am Lucy saying this is the most fun she had in years. Thanks for joining us Ma'am Lucy and Cristina! Till our next adventure!

QOTD: You never really travel alone, the world is full friends waiting to get to know you.
